Talented Bradford textiles designers are being given a chance to pick up business at a trade fair involving leading industrialists.
Interweave 2000 is a bold move to improve links between designers and textile company bosses.
The aim is to strengthen support for the innovative designers who are the future lifeblood of the textiles industry.
Free marketing training, advice from a professional designer on stand layout, and networking opportunities are part of the package of those taking part in the tread fair at Huddersfield Textile Training Centre of Excellence on April 7 and 8.
Anamaria Wills, who is co-ordinating the event, said: "This is a unique opportunity for the talent of tomorrow - independent and freelance textile and fashion designers - to meet established manufacturers and retailers.
"Yorkshire has a huge number of talented designers working on a wide range of textiles from cashmere to carpeting.
"There are also fashion and jewellery designers, universities and many other creative businesses which could benefit.
"Communications, IT, and marketing businesses will also find it a useful event to develop new customers."
Interested exhibitors are invited to take a stand at the two-day event, with keynote speakers and seminars on topics such as export marketing and e-commerce.
Ms Wills added: "We want to develop better links between independent designers and micro businesses and the larger manufacturers and retailers.
"The textiles world is seeing an increase in freelances and young innovators - but the industry needs to improve the way it supports this talent. Interweave 2000 is a major step on this road," she added
Interested designers should call Zaf Munir on (01484) 513858.
