Masked raiders brandishing baseball bats mugged two Liversedge men as they walked home from a night out.
The attack happened at 3.30am yesterday in Halifax Road, Liversedge.
One of the victims was hit across the chest with a baseball bat after he refused to hand over his wallet.
The muggers eventually got away with both men's wallets, containing credit cards and cash.
Today the victims warned other residents, particularly pensioners, to be on their guard.
Grant Henderson, 26, said: "We were walking towards my friend Lee Softley's house after a night out in Huddersfield when the attack happened.
"We were just by a bus stop in Halifax Road when two youths wearing balaclavas jumped out and forced us to get on the floor, demanding our wallets.
"They struck Lee with the bat twice before they got what they wanted.
"It was a frightening experience and because it happened opposite a sheltered housing complex, we are concerned it might happen to a pensioner if they strike again."
