Keighley Cougars centre Matt Foster suffered further damage to his ankle ligaments in his comeback game as the second string were hammered 60-20 by Widnes last night.
Foster went down heavily in a tackle in the 12th minute and had to receive immediate treatment. He retired from the game - a rare A team outing staged as a fitness test - and now looks certain to be missing for at least a month.
The only bright spot on a grey and dismal night for Keighley was the performance of Stuart Calvert, who scored the Cougars third try and stood alone at times in defiance of a hugely impressive Vikings team.
Chris Hogg also impressed and was rewarded with probably the try of the game, ten minutes from time. The Cougars other scores came from Matt Wilson and Lee Baines (tries), and two Mark Ives conversions.
