Bradford and Bingley hope to show their true colours at home to Winnington Park tomorrow in Thwaites North Division One.

The Bees played an erratic match at the fourth-from-bottom club in November and only escaped with a 22-22 draw - a result that harmed their chances of getting second place.

"We kicked off early and it was very windy," remembered Bradford and Bingley skipper Richard Petyt.

"We began atrociously and conceded an early try, but we then played really well for 15 minutes, scored three tries and missed another three and led 19-7. However, we stopped playing after 20 minutes and got dragged into a mauling, brawling game.

"The intention is to play 15-man rugby - the pack won us last week's game at Northern, despite being down to seven men after the dismissal of Mark Heap - but we don't want to throw it out to the backs willy-nilly."

The Bees have provisionally named lock Heap in their line-up, despite him being sent off at Northern last weekend. They will play him if he recovers from shoulder trouble. If not Baz Clarke will step in.

Otley and Wharfedale both have home advantage as they renew their bid for the two promotion places in Jewson National League One.

Leaders Otley give the experienced Steve Rice his turn at prop against Newbury, David Hall dropping to the bench, while the Dalesmen likewise relegate Richard Lancaster in their prop rotation against Fylde.

It's cup weekend for the lower clubs, but Keighley and Cleckheaton are both at home in re-arranged league matches.

Basement club Keighley are unchanged against third-from-bottom Horden in North East Division One.

Third-placed Cleckheaton have flanker Wayne McSwiney back from suspension against unbeaten leaders Pocklington in North East Two.

Reaching the Yorkshire Silver Trophy final last season has proved something of a poisoned chalice.

Holders Baildon only won their first league match last Saturday in Yorkshire Division Three at their 12th attempt and have already bowed out of the Silver Trophy and Tetley's Bitter Vase at the first hurdle.

Losing finalists Wibsey are faring even worse. They have lost their opening 12 league matches in Yorkshire Division Four, and have also bowed out of the Vase in round one.

Tomorrow unchanged Wibsey have a tough job in a delayed first round Silver Trophy tie at home to Knottingley, who are mid-table in Yorkshire Division Three.

Wibsey's player-coach Andy Todd says: "We are lacking second rows as Ian Percival has injured a cruciate ligament and Mark Ryan has a back injury."
