LONG-RUNNING plans for a golf course at Thorpe Farm, Guiseley are set to rumble on for at least another month.
Plans by Hawksworth estates for a golf course and turning Thorpe Farm, off Thorpe Lane, into a clubhouse have aroused local opposition.
And a decision whether to approve the plans was deferred at a planning meeting on Tuesday when Councillor Mike Dunn (Lab, Aireborough) asked for the chance for ward members to consult on the plans.
Objections include one from his wife Coun Moira Dunn (Lab, Aireborough), MP Paul Truswell, Aireborough Civic Society and seven members of the public. Objections include that the change of farm building to clubhouse would intrude on the green belt, hazardous access and concerns about the future of public footpaths on the site, among others.
The plan, which was recommended for approval, is likely to be considered at next month's meeting.
l BARRATT Homes has refused to comment about plans to build hundreds of new homes in East Otley.
Last month, the Wharfedale Observer revealed how a planning application for around 500 new homes linked to the East of Otley relief road was about to be submitted.
Housing giant Persimmon Homes (West Yorkshire) indicated it had not yet submitted a planning application but intended to do so in the near future. It added that the houses were dependent on the building of the East of Otley relief road.
Now, Barratt Homes has stopped just short of denying all connection with the scheme but has said it does not wish to comment at this time.
