Keighley A 20, Widnes A 60 - MATT FOSTER is expected to be out of action for another four weeks after breaking down in a come-back game for the Cougar A team on Wednesday night.
Foster, who has been one of the most influential memebers of the 1st XIII squad, lasted just 12 minutes of the game against Widnes Alliance. He had been out of action since limping off with an ankle injury in Keighley's first home game of the season against York.
It was hoped that the ligaments he damaged in that incident had healed sufficiently to enable him to play in this weekend's gamed at Featherstone, but he went down as he put in a tackle and immediatley left the field.
The A team went on to suffer a 60-20 defeat at the hands of the Widnes side which was in the Alliance Super League last season, but were unfairly demoted during the restructuring of the Alliance competition which now means only Super League A teams will play each other.
Despite the heavy defeat there was an impressive performance from Stuart Calvert and Chris Hogg also impressed at full back, scoring the try of the game after a 60-yard four man move.
Matt Wilson and Lee baines scored tries inthe first half to take the score to 26-10 at the break.
Calvert scored the penaultimate try and Mark Ives kicked two goals. Chris Hannah was also impressive up front, but the Keighley team could not come to terms with the out-sized Widnes pack.
