WITH the current five-a-side leagues drawing to a close at Yeadon's On-The-Ball the good news is that last season's champions Aireborough FC want to join the cup competition and next season's Sunday League.

Such is the interest in competitive five-a-side at On-The-Ball that the new Thursday night league has been quickly subscribed to with two former professional players named in the squads.

With the popularity of five-a-side leagues growing On-The-Ball are looking to set up a Friday night league of eight teams running from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm as well as Tuesday and Wednesday night leagues. Teams interested can fill in details on the noticeboard at On-The-Ball or contact Steve Collingwood on 01274 531862.

Six goals from Guiseley AFC's Andy Shuttleworth brought Premier League leaders MOS victory after they had gone three goals down to Galatasaray. Man-of-the-Match was Galatasaray's Wayne Evans.

Chernbobyl beat Rawdon Old Boys 4-3 with 'keeper Steve Platt's clangers helping Chernobyl to maintain their challenge for third place but he still, got the referee's Man-of-the-Match award. Tinshill created the most chances but went down 5-2 to Eurasia for whom Man-of-the-Match was Paul Miam.

Mature Cheddar proved too strong for four-man Experience Mix winning 5-2. McPhee and Smith went near but some unorthodox goalkeeping maintained the points for Cheddar. Man-of-the-Match was Kevin Smith (Experience).

MOS now hold an eight points lead in the Premier Division from Eurasia who are then ten points ahead of Mature Cheddar.

Matches for Sunday are: Galatasaray v Experience Mix 5.00 pm, MOS v Chernobyl 5.30, Eurasia v Mature Cheddar 6.00, Tinshill Town v Rawdon Old Boys 6.30.

In the First Division Spartak maintained top spot with a 10-5 win over BJ's while an inspired Real KLIP defeated Real Rawdon 7-2 denting Rawdon's bid for second place.

Deportivo beat Victoria United 10-5 with a second convicning win for the Cookridge boys showing their added value to the league.

Claim That Then take the wooden spoon after losing 8-4 to Wharfedale who move up to fourth place. Black Bull secured third place beating FC Ings 6-2.

Spartak now hold an 11 points lead over second placed Real Rawdon with Black Bull third just one point behind.

On Sunday in the last league games for this division Deportivo la Cookridge play Black Bull at 7.00, Victoria play KLIP at 7.30, Spartak play Real Rawdon at 8.00, BJ's play Claim That Then at 8.30 and Wharfedale Wanderers play FC Ings at 9.00.
