snooker team
LAST Sunday at the Dragons Leisure Club, Wharfedale entertained Leeds Two in the Yorkshire Inter-District League billiards and snooker competition.
Richard Brooke continued his run of good form and with breaks of 34 and 52 claimed both frames with ease. Andy Blamire and Martin Kaye both gave solid performances and both shared the spoils with their respective opponents. The final result was: Wharfedale 4, Leeds Two 2.
Scores: R Brooke 2 (54, 75), C Brooke 0 (11, 3); A Blamire 1 (67, 7), P Jackson 1 (43, 56); M Kaye 1 (50, 54), J Braithwaite 1 (60, 42).
The Wharfedale Billiards team defeated Leeds by five points to two thanks to victories by Jack Parker and Steve Crosland. Ronnie Haigh, playing his first home game for Wharfedale, didn't show anything like his best form and a potential maximum points did not materialise. Jack Parker scored consistently to win by 36 points and Crosland, with breaks of 80 and 56, won comfortably and the aggregate points was secured.
Scores: J Parker 200, M Ilkin 164; R Haigh 157, K Steel 200; S Crosland 200, R Patterson 61.
