Police are following up new information in their hunt for the Lund Park attacker. Det Chief Supt Brian Taylor said yesterday afternoon that an appeal for help from the public had sparked a huge response.
And he added that a strong police presence is being maintained in the area of the park, where there have been three attacks on women within a quarter mile radius.
"We have had a very good response and received new information to follow up about people in the area," he says. "Officers are sifting through that information.
"I would renew our appeal to the public and ask anyone who thinks they may be able to assist us to come forward."
The victims of the three attacks - which happened between December 11 and January 4 - all suffered head injuries.
The attacker is described as white or light-skinned Asian, of medium build, about 5ft 10 tall, wearing a black padded jacket with the hood up, and black jeans.
Anyone with information should contact the incident room on 01535 617016, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
