Phoenix reached the semi-final of the Premier League Cup with a 5-3 win at Altofts.

The teams cancelled each other out with few clear chances until Phoenix broke the deadlock when a run down the left from full back rob Horton took him past three players before threading a pass through to Mick Gilmartin. His first time shot flew under the advancing keeper into the net.

Dale Hoyle scored the first of his four goals after James Knowles intercepted a pass and beat two players before finding Gilmartin who turned his marker and crossed for Hoyle to slot home. The goal seemed to take the steam out of Altofts, resulting in a Hoyle tap-in after the keeper failed to hold Gilmartin's shot.

Hoyle's third came after he beat three defenders to shoot into the corner, putting Phoenix 4-0 up.

The Keighley side seemed to be coasting, but Altofts pulled a goal back quickly through Richard Hill who appeared to be in an offside position. Two further goals from Hill and Paul Robinson put the home side right back into the game before Hoyle's fourth calmed the Phoenix nerves. Phoenix visit Campion this Saturday in the County Cup.
