Guiseley crashed out of the Unifilla Cup quarter-finals on penalties after a 2-2 draw in last night's replay at near-neighbours and UniBond Premier Division rivals Emley.
The tie represented Guise-ley's last hope of any silverware this term with a disappointing league season so far.
And the importance of the match was reflected in the way they battled last night, ultimately in vain, to preserve their season.
The home side took a 21st minute lead through Gareth Hamlet, who had scored Em-ley's equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Nethermoor in the first meeting.
But Guiseley hit back to take a 2-1 advantage into the break following two goals in three minutes just before the half-time whistle.
Andy Shuttleworth fired past Emley goalkeeper Andy Rhodes after good work from Simon Parke in the 42nd minute before Benn Gallagher steered a 28-yard shot into the top corner.
Emley levelled when Danny Day scrambled the ball in following a 69th minute corner and the match went into extra time, but neither side could find a winner.
Guiseley were first up for the penalties but missed their first two spot kicks.
When keeper James Shutt was beaten for the third time by Emley's fourth penalty all the pressure was on Guiseley and another miss put the home side into the semi-finals.
lEccleshill United have a home fixture in the Northern Counties East Premier Divi-sion tonight when fifth-placed Glasshoughton Welfare visit Plumpton Park.
With no injuries from Saturday's 4-3 extra-time victory at London Colney, United manager Ray Price names the same squad.
However second-choice keeper Gary Clay and young midfielder Scott Price stand down because only three substitutes are allowed.
