Bingley Harriers' King of the Bronte fells Ian Holmes became the Malt Loaf Man on Sunday as he ran away with the Warburton's Soreen Stanbury Splash fell race title for the fifth time.
The Keighley-based former British fell race champion set a blistering pace, leading from start to finish and setting a new course record for the seven mile route. Holmes wiped 47 seconds from his own previous best mark, set back in 1997, as he became the first man to break the 44 minute barrier, in 43min 35sec.
Bradford veteran Steve Oldfield ran strongly to take the runner-up position, dipping inside the veteran's record time - in spite of finishing almost three minutes in arrears of the Bingley man.
Keighley's Jonnie Butler was second veteran over-40, in 12th place overall in 49min 14sec, while his club-mate Peter Bramham was third in the Supervet's category (54-44).
Bradford postman Gary Oldfield, nephew of Steve, led Pudsey and Bramley to victory in the team race with support from Jason Hemsley, Steve Neill and Steve Bottomley.
Colin Moses of Oldfield village finally wrested the coveted "locals" trophy from Bingley team-mate, the former three peaks record holder Ian Ferguson, with a thrilling sprint finish through Penistone Hill quarry.
Recipients must live within a mile of any part of the race route, and Moses took the verdict by just seven seconds to turn the tables from 12 months ago on the Haworth man, a six times previous winner of the prize.
In the women's race, over the same course, Bingley's Helen Johnson completed a winning double for her club. Johnson, of Cononley, near Skipton, finished over four and a half minutes ahead of Saddleworth's Lucy Whittaker, clocking 52min 52sec, and Holmfirth's Lisa Lacon took third place.
Keighley and Craven won the team prize, as fourth placed Elizabeth Tomes set a new veterans' record time leading her squad to victory. The other scorers were Rachael Sharples and Christine Preston.
