The newly-formed Gargrave Civic Society has had to delay its inaugural 2000 meeting.
Members had been due to get together later this month, but due to the complexities of adopting a suitable constitution, the executive committee has decided to postpone the meeting until at least March.
The committee is aware that there is interest throughout the community in the formation of a Civic Society and it is just as keen to make a start.
However, it believes that proper preparation will more than adequately compensate for the delay, and will advertise details and the date of the first meeting as soon as possible.
The executive committee comprises: chairman Trevor Batchelor, secretary, Chris Moffat, treasurer Elisabeth Tegledy, Stephen Lancaster, Helen Paulger, Elisabeth Kelly, Tom Burrow, Chris Wright and Simon Myers.
