Chairman Geoffrey Richmond today criticised First Division neighbours Huddersfield Town for making public Bradford City's £1.6 million offer for striker Marcus Stewart.
Richmond said: "We are a little disappointed that Huddersfield have chosen to reveal that we made a bid for Marcus Stewart last week. We would much prefer to do business out of the media spotlight.
"However, I can confirm, in view of the comments from manager Steve Bruce, that a bid was made for the player whom we value in the order of £1.6m, but Huddersfield rejected the offer.
"The availability of the player was drawn to our attention as a result of an approach from an agent representing Huddersfield who asked if we might be interested in making an offer.
"Huddersfield are within their rights to turn down the offer, but we are surprised that, in these circumstances, they have chosen to bring it into the public arena."
