Four accounts workers from the Bradford area are among a 15-strong syndicate who scooped a lottery win of nearly £2 million.

And they were delighted when the syndicate leader turned up with the winning ticket pinned to her bra.

Maggie Chambers, from Low Moor, Jean Overend, from Birkenshaw, and Jackie Bolton and Sue Devine, from Cleckheaton, work at Dewsbury-based ironmongers Ian Firth Hardware Ltd and will each receive £126,579 from the win on the Wednesday Lottery.

Most of the syndicate were told the good news on Wednesday night but three found out yesterday morning after syndicate leader Carol Brook went to work with the winning ticket pinned to her bra.

"Oh, it's brilliant," said Maggie, who works full time as accounts manager. "It just hasn't sunk in yet. I rang my husband, who's a printer, this morning and they had to go off and find him. He expected the worst but got a really nice surprise."

Syndicate members pay £1 each to the midweek and Saturday draw but until now the biggest win was £10.

It was Sue's winning line, based on family anniversaries and birthdays, which hit the jackpot.

"They hadn't brought me luck before," said Sue, the firm's credit controller. "I can't stop my knees from shaking. My husband said he was going to buy a caravan when I told him but I put a stop to that - it's my money! I'll be drinking this evening to celebrate."

The foursome said they were still in shock and would bank the cash until they decided what to do.
