ALLENBUILD Projects, based in Cross Hills, a sister company of PS Turner Construction established to handle major projects, has won a prestigious £8.6 million contract to build a new Church of England secondary school at Idle, Bradford.
Immanuel Church of England Community College will provide eight form secondary accommodation for 1,500 students in the north Bradford and Shipley area.
A voluntary aided school, it is being part-funded by the Bradford Diocesan Board of Education.
Work has already started on the site, with a ground-breaking conducted by the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Rev David Smith, and Allenbuild Projects marketing director Mike Smith.
The first phase will be completed by September 1, in time for the new academic year intake of students, with full completion due by December.
Constructed in 11 independent blocks linked by corridors, the steel-framed building will have two or three storeys, and will have car and cycle parking within the grounds.
Mike Smith says: "We are delighted to start work on this exciting project, which will provide a vital resource. Bradford's network of education resources is undergoing something of a renaissance at the moment, of which this school will form a significant part.
"Allenbuild Projects is proud to be involved with this important initiative."
