Cross Hills increased their lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 4-0 victory over Rimington.
Hills put the Ribble Valley side under pressure from the kick off and although they defended stoutly it was inevitable that Hills would score. It took 30 minutes to get past the Rimington keeper with Alan Robertson blasting home an unstoppable free kick.
The second half was much the same with Cross Hills doing all the attacking and a goal coming from Adam Whiteoak followed by Robertson's second, from the spot. With Rimington pushed to the limit the fourth goal was not long coming and Whiteoak completed the scoring after good work by Robert Kaminski.
Keighley were looking forward to their derby clash with Oxenhope after last week's sparkling performance, but this time the wheel's came off. A below strength Oxenhope side took the game to Keighley whose performance was very lack-lustre. Neither side created chances in a goalless first half and defences continue to dominate in the second period until Oxenhope put a long ball over the Keighley defence and Darren Whittaker was on hand to slot home the winner. It was an excellent victory for the Wroth Valley side with an excellent referee contributing to a fine match.
Bottom of the table Oxenhope Reserves entertained table toppers Addingham for the second successive week, and once again illness and injuries left Oxenhope without a full strength team. Despite the disruption they knitted together well and surprised Addingham with their speed and organisation.
Simon Kaggs gave Oxenhope the lead which spurred Addingham into action and they scored two quick goals before half time. Oxenhope stepped up a gear after the break, Kaggs equalised and they continued to create chances hitting the post several times. Just as they looked to have secured a point Addingham broke and snatched a winner.
Cowling started well against high-flying Grindleton and could have been three up in the first few minutes, but were denied by goalmouth clearances. Robert Walker finally broke the deadlock midway through the first half when he met a well timed Mark Glover cross. Cowling dominated the rest of the half, but the Grindleton keeper was on excellent form.
The second half was virtually an exhibition with Cowling testing the Grindleton keeper and the second goal came from a Rob Walker thunderbolt which almost tore through the roof of the net. Grindleton finally broke loose and with 10 minutes to go scored, but never looked like spoiling Cowling's day.
Sutton'smini revival came unstuck when they visited St Pauls and lost by the odd goal in five. Saints adapted to the bumpy pitch better and opened the scoring midway through the first half. Sutton struggled to get out of second gear but were gifted an equaliser when a Saints defender headed past his own keeper.
The second half saw St Pauls regain the lead from the penalty spot but Sutton pulled them back when Jonathan Reape got on the end of Danny Newton's cross. A point looked in the bag for the South Craven side until Saints hammered in their third.
Keighley Reserves travelled to Horton where the referee had given backword late in the day and although a stand-in from the home club did his best it was not an ideal situation. Keighley dominated the first half and went in front when Keith Spence lobbed the keeper from outside the penalty area.
Chances were created and wasted by the Keighley forwards and no further goals were scored in the half. Horton raised their game in the second half and put Keighley under pressure. A debatable penalty saw Horton equalise and those missed chances looked as they would prove costly until Keighley stepped up a gear and pushed Horton back into their own penalty area and Spence scored the winner.
Division Two leaders Bronte Wanderers got back on the winning trail within two minutes of their match with Grindleton reserves. Rye Bailey opened their account, but Bronte seemed to struggle after their bright start until Chris Smith made it 2-0 midway through the half. Grindleton fought back with a gaol and looked to have set up an interesting second half until Simon Waddington scored for Bronte on the stroke of half time. They raced away with the game with second half goals from Sean Kavanagh, Rye Bailey and Simon Waddington.
Silsden faced high flying Embsay in their first match for several weeks. They played some attractive football but could not crack a solid Embsay defence in the first half. The deadlock was broken when Adam Ackroyd opened the scoring and Chris Weather added a second. Embsay had their moments, but Keith Phillipson kept things solid at the back and once Adam Ackroyd made it 3-0 the points were in the bag.
Bronte Wanderers forfeited ground advantage to play Intake Reserves who had only 10 men. Bronte took time to get going and never created much in the way of chances. Intake lacked ideas up front but concentrated on keeping Bronte out. Lee Bilborough found the net in the last quarter of the match and Nial Walls made it 2-0.
Bronte began to make the extra man count allowing Tim Frear to slot home before Intake opened their account. Bronte were not going to let things slip and Walls completed his hat-trick to secure the points.
Lothersdale Athletic visited Skipton LMS aiming to repeat their 10-3 victory earlier in the season, and once again the goals flooded in. John Lawrence opened the scoring and further pressure saw LMS head past their own keeper before Lawrence added the third. The Skipton side briefly stopped the stampede and scored themselves only to see Thomas Richardson on target with number four before LMS scored their second just before the break.
Richardson dispelled any thoughts that Athletic might sit on their lead when he scored the fifth, Lawrence completed his hat-trick and further goals from Martin Groake (2), Philip Richardson and Lawrence took Dale into double figures again while LMS scored a third.
Cowling Reserves entertained Barrowford United in their Division Two League Cup replay, but this time it was a one-side match. The much changed United side were a goal up after five minutes and 3-0 up by half time.
Cowling had three glorious second half chances but wasted them while Barrowford scored two more to make it 5-0, at which point cowling called it a day and retired to the pub.
Silsden Athletic had Barnoldswick United as visitors in their cup replay and again the visitors scored an early goal. Silsden struggled to get into their rhythm up front but kept the Barnoldswick forwards out until early in the second half. With nothing to loose Silsden pushed forward and introduced both substitutes.
Simon Lilley scored and Gary Reece equalised giving them a chance to press home their advantage. Barnoldswick fought their way back into the game and with minutes to go scored a vital third goal.
