WHEATLEY 0 WESTFIELD 4
Yeadon Westfield continued their winning form when they visited Wheatley Hotel at Ilkley to play last season's close rivals who battled against the Yeadon side for honours throughout last season.
A lacklustre start was made to this game however by both sides who struggled to keep the ball under control on the uneven surface and the goalkeepers were rarely tested in the first half hour.
When Gary Marshall received the ball on the left he instantly brought some cheer to the visiting supporters with his weaving run which left three Ilkley players behind. He was upended by the fourth and Carl Douglas stepped forward to slot home the penalty.
Peter Day was then found unmarked at the back post when Craig Marshall's shot came off the upright to leave him with an easy chance which he took to give Westfield a two goal lead.
After the break Wheatley attacked with a greater urgency but some solid defending kept the scoresheet clean. The introduction of Carlton Chew saw him soon make his mark when Douglas put him through with a one-on-one with the 'keeper and the Yeadon man made no mistake.
Within minutes the score was 4-0 when Chew unselfishly passed to Mark Chippendale who side-footed home to secure the points.
