Addingham Res 5
McBrides 0
ADDINGHAM Reserves demolished their opponents with arguably their best performance of the season.
Jez Parker and Darren Bates both netted twice as Addingham moved above their opponents to claim fifth spot in the table.
Starting with the same side that saw off Bradley last week, Addingham quickly got to grips with the windy conditions and took the game to their opponents.
Addingham almost claimed the lead as early as the second minute. Graham Johnson turned sharply in the penalty area and crashed a shot against the underside of the bar. Galasso then saw a goalbound effort saved by the visiting keeper as Addingham piled on the pressure.
It was only a matter of time before Addingham took the lead and the breakthrough arrived in the 20th minute. Addingham keeper Collins made a fine save and swiftly found Campbell on the left flank. He in turn supplied Mitchell who switched play to Johnson. The ball was cut back to Darren Bates who completely deceived the McBrides keeper with a delicate chip.
Bates doubled his - and Addingham's - tally with a free header from a Philips free kick on the half hour. With Wells and Mitchell completely dominating the right flank, Addingham created numerous chances and could have been seven up at the break, but for better finishing.
Jez Parker started the second half by producing something rather special. Scott Walder and Sunderland provided Galasso with the chance to back heel to Parker. The majority of the Addingham man's goals come from chances inside the six yard box so it was all the more pleasing for the team's followers to witness the wicked curling shot that flew into the top left hand corner of the net.
With victory secured, Addingham pushed forward to try and boost their goal difference. The hard working Graham Johnson made it 4-0 in the 75th minute and Parker made it 5-0 with his second goal five minutes from time. Match point for Addingham went to player manager Darren Bates.
Addingham Reserves face second-placed Waddington on Saturday. Players should meet at Stockinger Lane at 12.45pm for a 2pm kick off. Team from - G Collins, D Wells, S Walder, M Silson, R Campbell, D Bates, A Phillips, P Sunderland, J Parker, G Johnson, S Galasso, S Mitchell, D Kelly, P Bates, S Vickers, D Williams.
