A FORMER pupil of Skipton's Aireville School is travelling to Bangladesh to help set up a project for the protection of adolescent girls from sexual abuse.

Stephanie Dixon is currently studying for an Master of Arts degree in theatre development at King Alfred's College, Winchester.

She has been given the opportunity to go and work in Khulna, Bangladesh for three months, with two other students.

They will be working with Losuak which is setting up the scheme to protect young females and provide life oriented education.

The placement is a chance for Stephanie to help to improve the lives of those damaged by man's inhumanity to man.

It will be carried out in three stages. First the scheme will be training people to facilitate and help the abused women and children.

Secondly they will help to change living and emotional states, and finally they will help raise the awareness of the situation to the wider community.

While in Bangladesh Stephanie will have her accommodation and food provided for, but she needs help to pay for her air fare, living expenses and insurance.

Donations can be sent to Stephanie via her sister Amanda Dixon at 12 Ramshaw Drive, Skipton.
