A firm which started in the founder's Bradford home expects to make sales of £30 million by the end of the year.

UFP UK, which was started seven years ago and distributes computer supplies, is also launching a subsidiary tomorrow which plans to also have sales of £30 million by 2005.

Saj Arshad started UFP UK in Britain in 1993 after working at the group headquarters in Paris for two years. He based the UK headquarters of the firm in his Manningham home from where he sold such things as laser toner cartridges, ink jet cartridges and fax cartridges.

The business took off and it was not long before he found premises off Thornton Road, Bradford, and took on ten staff.

The firm, which sells household-name supplies to dealers, now has a staff of 30 at its current base in Ripley Street, West Bowling, Bradford, and last year saw its turnover rise to £20 million. They sell on products made by firms such as Hewlett Packard, Epsom, Sony and IBM.

Now Easy Supplies Ltd is being launched which will sell products direct to the end user and, by the end of the year, will have helped the UK business recruit at least a further 15 staff.

The new firm will use a database of 15,000 customers to sell the products including small commercial business, dentists, solicitors, the NHS, Morrisons and KPMG.

Stephen O'Brien, who is sales director for both firms, said: "We will be looking for sales of £2.5 million by the end of this year and also planning to grow through acquisition."

He is currently recruiting telesales staff and is working with Bradford Council's Call Centre Training Unit to find the right sort of staff.
