SAJID IQBAL captured a silver medal at the British Under-23 Powerlifting Championships last weekend.
Sajid was competing in a strong group of four lifters and had to take part in three lifting disciplines, the back-squat, bench press and dead lift. His total lift was 550kg (1,212lbs).
He has been training with weights for about four years, but only took up powerlifting last year.
His trainer, Stuart McConville said: "He has done incredibly well to win Silver at the British Championships in such a short time. Sajid has tremendous potential and if he keeps lifting could be a future British Champion."
Sajid is also a stone lifter, taking part in Asian competitions throughout the country and trains at 'The Gym' in Devonshire Street, Keighley, where the Keighley Weightlifting and Powerlifting Club has six Yorkshire and North East Champions, three British and one European champion.
