BEDALE TOWN 3 BURLEY TROJANS 1

Trojans' recent revival was blown off course at a windswept Bedale on Saturday. Victory would have seen Trojans rise to fifth in the table however a lacklustre display allowed their hosts to deservedly record their first win of the season.

The home side adapted better to the conditions and despite going behind, rallied in the second-half to claim a much needed three points.

Trojans were disrupted by the early loss of influential midfielder Phil Dodsworth with a neck injury but recovered to take the lead midway through the first- half.

A poor clearance from Mark Williams landed at the feet of Jonathan Lofthouse who nonchalantly lobbed the ball back over the head of the stranded 'keeper to take his season's tally into double figures.

Bedale levelled five minutes before the interval when a free- kick was not cleared, leaving Nigel Walker with a simple tap in. Pete Sumner went close to giving Trojans the lead, striking a post when put clear by Phil Constantine and they were made to pay as the home side went ahead on the hour mark when slack marking allowed a Bedale striker a free header.

Trojans were unable to rediscover their fluency of recent weeks, with many moves breaking down in the final third of the pitch.

It was no surprise when the home side put the result beyond doubt ten minutes from time.

With Trojans pushing up in search of an equaliser they were caught on the break. Nick Quaife bundled over a Bedale forward inside the area and despite 'keeper Chris Hargreaves getting a hand to the spot kick he could not prevent it from crossing the line to seal the win.
