Ladies
On Wednesday January 26, the Ben Rhydding Ladies played their first charity golf competition.
This was a five club stableford in aid of Marie Curie Specialist Community Services in the Wharfedale area, this being the chosen charity of the Lady Captain, Miss Cathy Lambert.
During the next year other events, both golf and social, have been organised to help raise funds for this charity.
Having decided which clubs could be relied upon, and which should be left behind, the Ladies set off to play some fun golf in bright and breezy conditions, not forgetting the reason why they were playing.
At the end of the day, the Ladies who had made the right choice of clubs were Pauline Brook (18 points), Dorothy Lazarus (18 points, on a count back) and Helen Sefton (17 points, on a count back).
Four-ball at
Otley GC
THERE were 120 entrants for the men's four-ball, better-ball Stableford at Otley Golf Club on Saturday.
However, because of heavy rain only a few ventured out and very few completed 18 holes, consequently the competition was cancelled.
The ladies were more fortunate. Earlier in the week they held a 12-hole AM-AM Stableford competition, teams of three with the best two scores to count. Fifty-one ladies took part, enjoying a bright and mild day.
Winning teams: 1, Margaret Newton (20), Jean Barber (26), Pam Bradley (41), 48 points; 2, Susan Ridyard (16), Jean Wheelhouse (27), Kath Smith (32), 45 points.
Horsforth GC
