Silsden Park Rangers 6 Wyke 32 - Following their much improved performance at Emley Moor last week when they scored 30 points, Silsden set off in fine style against a confident Wyke team.

Silsden produced a terrific first half performance withloose forward Neil Jordan turning in a typically industrious show to take the man of the match award, closely followed by Mark Ken.

Forwards Jim Coldwell, Dean Farrell and Mark Stott also put in big efforts and there was a fine performance from second row Mark Adams .

Wyke scored the first try when a speculative kick to the line got stuck in the mud, and caused panic in the Silsden defence. But despite this setback, Silsden kept on battling and almost grabbed a spectacular try when neat handling from Kent sent Rob Leighton tearing into a gap deep inside his own half, but the teenage centre was hauled down by the cover just short of the line. Rangers got on the scoresheet shortly afterwards however, when Adams made a terrific burst up the middle and found Jordan at his shoulder to race in for a fine try.

Andy Bowness landed the conversion to pull Silsden level but they were hit by a double blow when Adams was sin-binned and Wyke scored a converted try to regain the lead. The visiting pack engineered three further converted tries and a penalty goal in the last 25 minutes, to ease home 32-6.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Silsden travel to Pudsey to take on Victoria Vikings, kick off 2pm.

Hunslet Blooming Rose 16

Keighley Albion A 18

In very wet and windy conditions Albion showed an abundance of team spirit to face down a heavy Blooming Rose pack.

Forwards John Normington and Danny Seaton drove the ball in well as Albion launched an early assault. Second row Gareth Bottomley showed his potential in his first full Albion match with his relentless tackling and running.

The effort was rewarded when Chris Brookes cruised round the full-back to go in at the corner. The lead did not last as Blooming Rose soon struck back with a converted try.

Chris Brookes re-opened the scoring with a long-range penalty and a pin-point grubber for Johnny Thornton to score a spectacular try, grounding the ball just before it went dead. Unfortunately Brookes had to be substituted after a high tackle.

Despite the high wind in their faces Hunslet finished the half stronger, running in two late tries to make the score 16-10.

A crunching tackle by Gary Fox, forcing his opposing winger into touch set up a platform for an Albion attack and Ian Anderson used the space given to put Ayden Blackburn in at the corner.

Ten minutes later a well-worked scrum move saw Dave Sanderson brush off his opposite number to go 30 metres and dive in at the corner.

The next match is a tough home game against Boothtown Terriers, who won easily earlier in the season.

Stainland Stags 18

Keighley Town A 24

Town put in a hard working performance to grab an impressive away win.

Paul Bastow opened the scoring after good work from the Town forwards, and they were unlucky not to go further ahead when skipper Neil Kennedy crossed in the corner, but the referee ruled that the flag had been touched as he dived over.

Har working Tom McAndrew put things right moments later when he scored under the posts to give Bibby an easy conversion.

Two second half tries from Gary Marples gave Town a lead they never looked like losing. A late Adie Clough try, converted by Fudge, made sure of the points.
