Ilkley Moor Badminton
It was a successful week for Ilkley Moor Badminton Club with two matches being played. The first was a Bradford League mixed match, which was played on Monday away to A.O.S. With a slightly changed team, it was a victorious night for Ilkley Moor, who came away with a 7-2 win, keeping them firmly on the top of the table.
The team consisted of Viv Preston and Peter Gill (winning three rubbers), Mandy Gill and Matthew Brown (winning three rubbers) and Sue Fortunato and Stewart Ellis (winning one rubber).
On Friday, the Ladies team played at home to Old Grangers. The night proved that hard work and perseverance pays off as Ilkley Moor Ladies get their first 9-0 of the season. The outstanding pair were Captain Joan Baker and her partner, 15 year-old Harriet Smith, who were playing together for only the second time. They won all three of their games.
Other team members were Anita Maunsell and Viv Preston, Mandy Gill and Sue Fortunato.
Club night was well supported as usual with some new faces coming along to enjoy the badminton.
Any badminton players interested in joining our club can contact Sue for more details on (01943) 609137. A reminder to club members that there will be no club night on Friday, February 4.
