Burley-in-Wharfedale's Scalebor Park Hospital is the subject of an investigation after claims that youngsters have discovered gruesome case files in the building.
The Airedale NHS Trust has promised a full inquiry after crime scene photographs, criminal records and psychiatric reports were allegedly found by
children playing at the abandoned hospital in Moor Lane.
Children have been using the grounds of the former hospital as a play area since the building was closed five years ago.
Janet Crouch, deputy chief executive of the Trust, said: "The Trust is clearly concerned about security."
"As far as we were aware the files had been removed and until a full investigation has been carried out, I cannot comment any further," she said.
Dennis Warwick, chairman of Burley Community Council, said he was aware of rumours circulating about a story concerning the hospital appearing in the national press but he did not wish to comment on them. However, he said if there were any questions about security at the Scalebor Park site then those would be matters for the police and the Trust respectively to deal with.
