Keighley Amateur Boxing Club rekindled memories of its glory days of the 1970'2 and 80's when three promising young boxers made a terrific impact in the Yorkshire Schools Championships.
Sixteen-year-old Craig Higgs produced his own special brand of explosive punching to demolish the powerful Chris Cowlishaw of St Patricks ABC Leeds and take the county title.
Higgs produced a hammer blow to end the 75 kilogrammes final at Barnsley in the first round.
The triumphant Higgs now goes on to the Northern Counties finals at Doncaster.
Thomas Binns , 15, also performed well to reach the finals and lost narrowly on points to the much more experienced Darren Andrson of Doncaster in the 60k class.
The Keighley club was only just denied a third finalist when Luke tuck was unluckily beaten by a slender points decision in the 57k class during the previous week's semi-finals.
Fourteen-year-old tuck had beaten one of the competition favourites, Andrew Gallagher of Hoyle Mill, Barnsley, in a very hard contest on the Monday evening while his semi-final opponent had received a bye when his scheduled opponent withdrew.
Just 48 hours later Tuck found himself in the semi-finals against a fresh opponent.
