Crusader Colts easily beat Blackburn 39-3 despite wasting a string of early scoring chances.
Too many players tried to go on their own when a simple pass would have resulted in a try. Overlaps were scorned are players were too concerned with getting their names on the score sheet.
The Colts finally for their act together when Jon Finn crossed for the first of his two tries. Shaun Gardner crossed for the first of his two tries after a fine passage of play in which Andrew Foster played a prominent part, backing up and releasing players into space.
Fullback Richard Cavender successfully entered the line to score twice and the try count reached seven when No8 Morgan Bailey picked up from the base of the scrum and forced his way over. Team work will have to improve if the impressive results of recent weeks are to be maintained against stronger opposition.
Their next match is at home to Bramley, meet 11am.
Crusaders Under-12's gave a good display to beat Rossendale 49-14. They dominated the game throughout, but sat back on their laurels for a short time allowing Rossendale to score two tries. Crusaders' tries were scored by John Metcalfe, Michael Harrison, Oliver Robinson, Danny Olssen, Chris Lyle, Scott Dyson and a very well taken try by Michael Lewis. Scott Dyson converted all but one, with Chris Lyle dusting off his kicking boots for the other. Nathan Berry and Cameron Aitcheson again worked hard in the forwards.
