Bradford-based Yorkshire Co-operatives has made two senior appointments to prepare for the retirement of its chief executive Tony Henry in July.
Peter Marks has become chief executive designate of the group after being deputy chief executive for a number of years and Stephen Johnson has taken over as deputy chief executive after being chief general manager service trades. All three men are long-standing employees at Yorkshire Co-operatives which has its headquarters in Bradford's Sunwin House.
Tony Henry will have been with the firm for nearly 40 years when he retires, Peter Marks will have spent all his working life with the company - a total of 32 years so far - and Stephen Johnson has been there for 25 years.
Both appointments continue a long tradition of appointing local people to top jobs in the firm. Mr Marks was born in Bradford and Mr Johnson was born in Keighley.
