It was a busy weekend in the world of the Yorkshire Cyclo Cross Association.
It all started in Bradford with the annual dinner and prize presentation at the Guide Post.
North of England champion Chris Young, who comes from Gargrave, was the main guest and distributed the prizes.
He praised the YCCA for its effort and paid a personal tribute to Bradford veteran John Rawnsley, who introduced him to the sport about 15 years ago.
Since then Young has been national champion twice and north of England champion seven or eight times.
Main prizewinners for the season were Noel Clough from Middlesbrough, who won the open category ahead of Richard Binks from Huddersfield, and Matthew Buckingham from Barnsley.
In the over-50 veterans' category John Ginley from Queensbury was the winner while in the over-60 category Peter Milson from Wakefield took the title ahead of John Rawnsley.
There were medals for the Bradford husband-and-wife team, with Sue Gill winning the ladies' competition while husband Mark finished third in the senior veterans' category.
The tables were turned on Young when he received the award as Yorkshire's outstanding rider for the past year, mainly for his success in winning the North of England title and leading Yorkshire to victory in the Inter-Area Championship just over a week ago.
With the wining and dining completed more than 20 riders managed to turn out for the Sowerby Bridge 88cc Cyclo Cross at Friendly at Halifax.
This regular end-of-season event is competed for by two-man teams with a youth rider or under 12 being paired with a senior racer.
Andy Whitworth (Huddersfield Road Club) and Paul Todd (Drighlington BC) won by about a minute from Phil Hinchcliffe (Bradford RCC) and another Drighlington BC youngster Sean Skidmore.
There are some major events coming to West Yorkshire next winter with the north of England championship to be held at the Bradley Woods camp site near Brighouse. It will be organised by Fred Rothwell and his team from Sowerby Bridge.
One of the national trophy races will be held at Temple Newsam Park at Leeds. It will be organised by Seacroft Wheelers.
