Powerhouse Bradford Bulls winger Tevita Vaikona will find out today just what chance he has of launching his season at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in next weekend's Challenge Cup fifth round tie.
Vaikona missed Saturday's fourth round win over Huddersfield-Sheffield and the warm-up clash with the Wildcats a fortnight earlier after damaging his finger at the club's training camp in Lanzarote.
But the Tongan is due to have the brace on his finger removed today when further medical checks will reveal just how close he is to a return.
"Hopefully Tevita will get the all-clear and if he does I will have some real selection headaches for the cup game," said Elliott.
"I was very pleased with the two wingers on Saturday. Leon Pryce contributed well again and Nathan McAvoy's performance should encourage him greatly.
"The more he is involved the better he plays as far as I am concerned and I thought his work-rate was first class at the weekend. When he
stands out on the wing he sometimes gets frustrated with himself, especially if his defence is struggling.
"But he really shook people up in the tackle on Saturday and it seemed to give him a lift in his general play. When his chance came along he took it very confidently.
"He hasn't played that often outside Scott Naylor but I thought they got stronger as a pairing as the game went on."
Tickets for the cup tie at Belle Vue went on sale to season ticket holders at Odsal today.
They are available until 8.30pm tonight, between 9am and 5.30pm on Friday and between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday on production of voucher A.
The remainder go on general sale on Monday. The match is not all-ticket but Bulls officials are advising fans to make sure of their places in advance.
The club were today hosting their annual Super League launch at the Cedar Court Hotel with a dinner for civic leaders, the business community and members of the playing and coaching staff.
