Keighley Crusader 3rds 38 Halifax 3rds 3 - Crusaders 3rds were probably the only team to benefit from the 1st XV not playing, when they got a home game, the premier strip -- and some supporters.

After 11 defeats in a row they fielded a stronger team and beat Halifax 3rds 38-3, with some experienced players returning to lead the seven Colts into battle. Nick Wright and Richard Cavender linked well early in the game, only to drop the ball with the line at their mercy. With only five minutes on the clock 'Cav' fed Chris Shone who put Wright in at the corner for the first of his four tries.

Two minutes later Wright was in again and this time Cavender made the conversion to take a 12-0 lead.

Halifax woke up and the match flowed with chances for both sides, but it was Daz Ideson who scored under the posts, and Cavender. A penalty for dissent cost the Crusaders a clean sheet, ending the half with a 19-3 lead.

Crusaders continued to dominate after the break with Wright scoring his third try and his fourth was a solo effort, dancing through the defence from half way, again Cavender made the conversion. It was a joy to watch as Keighley ran and tackled their hearts out and as Tyrone Adams scored his well deserved try Halifax were heard to surrender. The referee called time as Cavender missed the final conversion.

If the experienced players continue to do their bit, and the Colts enjoy their senior rugby, this win could be the start of and enjoyable period for the team.
