A FOUNDER member of the Ilkley-based pop group Smokie has been banned from driving for 18 months after he admitted drink driving.
Bass Guitarist Terence Uttley, 48, of The Beeches, Curly Hill, Middleton, was breath tested after driving in New Brook Street, Ilkley, last month.
He was fined £500 with £40 costs by Bingley magistrates after pleading guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
After the case, a spokesman for Mr Uttley said that he had been attending charity events in Bradford and Ilkley on the day in question and had not noticed how much he had drunk during the proceedings.
He made a mistake and decided to drive the short distance to his home from the centre of Ilkley.
