SEVERAL hundred Territorial Army troops invaded Keighley at the weekend.
The contingent took over part of Ingrow Railway Centre - on the Keighley and Worth Valley line - in the first operation of its kind seen in the town.
Rail wagons were used to off and on-load equipment as TA members trained for wartime scenarios.
Haggas' factory yard, adjacent to Ingrow Station, housed the command base.
Capt George Metcalf, of the Royal Logistic Corps 217 Squadron, told us: "In a wartime situation equipment would be delivered to the forces by rail. The aim of this exercise was to practice that operation.
"The weekend, which included night-time activities, was a great success. Everyone taking part was stretched to full potential, and I was very pleased with the way the whole thing went."
Taking part in the exercise were Keighley infantry soldiers as well as members of the Middlesbrough-based Royal Pioneers and the Royal Logistic Corps, from Leeds
