REGULARS at an Otley pub will be drinking to their hearts content from this weekend after the town's first brew-pub is opened.
Chumbawamba guitarist Boff Whalley will welcome the crowds to the brew-pub, when Briscoe's brewery moves from an Otley cellar into an extension of the Bowling Green in Bondgate on Saturday.
To mark the occasion, Boff, a member of the Pudsey and Bramley Fell Runners Club, will help brewer and fellow runner Paul Briscoe off to a racing start.
Paul, 39, said that fellow club members would be running their way to the top of Otley Chevin and back to mark the opening.
"I don't know how many people will be there but there'll be quite a lot and there will be some beers at the end."
As previously reported in the Wharfedale, Paul has been busy brewing a range of beers in his Otley cellar for years.
The fun starts at 4pm with a run up and down Otley Chevin with members of Pudsey and Bramley Fell Racing Club. At 6pm, the grand opening will have tape cut by Boff Whalley, guitarist with Chumbawamba followed by an opportunity to view the brewery. A ticket-only buffet follows at the Curlew Caf at 6.30pm.
The full range of Briscoe's beers will be on sale at The Bowling Green, including the Chevin Chaser, Burnsall Classic, Dale Bottom Dark and a special one for the pub - Trev's Jovial Jollop.
