ORGANISERS of Addingham's Millennium Domesday Book are delighted with the response from village residents to their questionnaire.
After distributing around 1,600 forms to every house in Addingham, they have collected around 900 completed ones so far.
Harry Rowlinson, Village Design Statement (VDS) committee member, said he was expecting a return of around 55 to 60 per cent.
"They are still coming in and the next thing to do is to get the computer programme running," said Mr Rowlinson.
The results of the specially-designed questionnaire will be computer analysed before the being incorporated in the VDS.
The Statement will be used to try and influence planning decisions in Addingham to make sure that future developments are in keeping with village life and the character of the area.
Mr Rowlinson said that other work, such as preparing maps and taking photographs was already taking place around the village with the hope that the VDS could be produced by April.
Mr Rowlinson said that work to document the architectural attractions of the village was making residents take more note of their surroundings.
"It has given a new perspective on the village and people are realising that some of the buildings are quite magnificent - there are a whole host of views which are worth preserving," Mr Rowlinson said.
He added: "Hopefully we will get quite an elegant Village Design Statement - we need it as early as possible."
