Wetherby 33, Baildon 17: Baildon travelled to Wetherby on a windy but dry afternoon to find the Yorkshire Four home side in no mood to respect reputations from a higher division.
Baildon started the match in sluggish mood and paid the price in the ninth minute when Wetherby crossed out wide for a converted try.
Then came a period of play which saw both sides move from end to end only to be repulsed by resolute defence.
However towards the end of the first half Baildon were tempted to play a more expansive game resulting in Moorhouse crossing wide for two tries, one of which was converted, to leave the score 12-7 to Baildon at the turn around.
The second half saw Baildon get off to a disastrous start by conceding a penalty try after a mix up in defence.
Wetherby continued to press the Baildon defence using the wind to good effect. This led to a strangely subdued Baildon conceding a further two goals and a try.
Baildon managed to shake off their lethargy in the closing stages when substitute Oddy ran strongly from 40 yards to score a consolation try but, as on so many occasions for Baildon this season, it was too little too late.
