Jorge Cadete netted his first goal in Bradford City's colours with a bullet header to help seal a thrilling victory over Middlesbrough reserves last night.
The Portuguese striker played 75 minutes at a wet Valley Parade as he continues to build up his fitness to bolster the Bantams' Premiership survival bid.
And Cadete thrilled the 1,113 crowd when he rose superbly above three defenders to nod Lee Sharpe's inviting corner into the net during first-half stoppage time.
Ashley Westwood then sealed a 2-1 victory with just three minutes remaining to cap a magnificent second half display by City which cements their second place in the FA Premier Reserves League.
Meanwhile, City's bid to sign Aidan Davison permanently could today be completed after Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock agreed that the on-loan goalkeeper can leave Bramall Lane.
City are now waiting to hear how much the Blades want for a player who joined the South Yorkshire club on a free transfer last summer.
The 31-year-old has been on loan at Valley Parade for the last three months but if City want Davison to play on Sunday against Leeds they must make the deal permanent.
Davison has played in the last four Premiership games, playing especially well in the 1-1 draw at Tottenham on Saturday.
He has helped the Bantams through a goalkeeping injury crisis which has ruled out Matt Clarke and Gary Walsh.
Chairman Geoffrey Richmond earlier in the week spoke to Blades boss Neil Warnock, who was his manager at Scarborough in the 1980s, in an attempt to tie up a deal.
The City chief said: "Neil spoke to his board of directors and then rang back yesterday to say the matter was being discussed at a Sheffield United board meeting before last night's game with Barnsley.
"I am now awaiting a call from Neil with a price.
"Then we can talk to the player and finalise the deal."
Reports yesterday suggested that a stumbling block was whether the remaining 15 months of Davison's contract would be paid up by the Blades but Richmond said: "This is utter nonsense."
Davison joined Sheffield United during the summer on a Bosman transfer after a successful two-year spell with Grimsby Town.
He played an important part in City avoiding relegation from the First Division in the 1996-97 season during his first loan spell at Valley Parade.
