Bradford Bulls chairman Chris Caisley has dismissed rumours that Kiwi star Hen-ry Paul is about to agree a lucrative contract with the English Rugby Union.
It is believed that Twickenham officials want to secure him for the international side once his existing deal with the Odsal club expires next year.
But Caisley said: "I really cannot believe the arrogance of the Rugby Union.
"Henry has said before he does not want to play union and he is also a very proud Kiwi so playing for England wouldn't come easily.
"I'm not worried about the situation because I feel confident he wants to both stay with the Bulls and continue playing rugby league where he is a big star."
Bulls are known to be keen to extend Paul's current deal but now face stiff competition as rugby union attempts to complete a major signing coup.
Paul would qualify to play rugby union for England by virtue of having a Liverpool-born grandfather. The fact he has played rugby league for New Zealand would not affect the issue.
Tevita Vaikona, Justin Brooker and Neil Harmon are all expected to play for the Bulls' Under-21 Alliance side against Hull at Odsal tonight (7.30pm).
