Residents who claim their street is used as a rat-run are calling for an 'access only' order to be imposed.
More than 30 people living in Druids View, Crossflatts, have signed a petition demanding the measure.
The petition will be considered at the next meeting of Bradford Council's Shipley Community Area Panel, on March 21.
Residents say the narrow road is used by motorists to avoid a busy section of the A650. A £12,000 traffic-calming scheme is planned for the area, but petitioners fear the proposals could encourage more vehicles into Druids View.
Traditional humps are to be instal-led in nearby Marley View and Ryshworth Avenue, but smaller 'thumps' are earmarked for Druids View.
"While we welcome the idea of regulating the flow and speed of traffic in the area we think the solution for Druids View is the wrong one," say petitioners. Druids View is regularly used as a rat-run by drivers avoiding the main road traffic. The scheme to place large black-top humps in all the surrounding roads while only placing small yellow plastic humps in Druids View would effectively encourage more drivers."
But in a report to be presented to the Area Panel meeting, council officers say most motorists drive over thumps correctly and tests have shown the measure is as effective as traditional road humps in slowing traffic.
