Manchester City have signed Bradford City striker Lee Mills on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old centre-forward, who scored 24 league goals during the Bantams' promotion-winning season last term but is currently out of favour at Valley Parade, is expected to make his debut for the Blues at Barnsley tomorrow.

The First Division promotion-chasers have acted to shore up their strikeforce after only picking up a point from their last two games and slipping out of the top two.

Manchester City, who are in third place one point behind an automatic promotion spot, lost this week, 3-1 at home to QPR.

They want somebody to help share the goal-scoring burden with their Bermudan ace Shaun Goater.

City had previously turned down loan offers from Wolves, Huddersfield and Walsall.

Mills became City's first £1million player when they signed him from Port Vale on the eve of last season and he was a big success.

The player, who had previous spells with Wolves and Derby, proved to be an instant hit, scoring 24 goals in City's promotion-winning campaign.

It is his scoring record in Division One rather than his output of five goals in the Premiership this term that has caught the eye.

He has been out of the side recently with a back injury, but is now back to full fitness.
