Ilkley Harrier Helen Sedgwick finished second lady in Sunday's Sport Direct Cross-Country League race at Kippax. Helen led home the Ilkley ladies team, followed by Sally Malir 35.12, Di Kitchen 35.20, Jo Foster 39.19, Shirley Wood 40.33 and Jill Cooke 41.18.
Ilkley don't field a mens' team in this event but another of their new runners, top cyclist Rob Reynolds-Jones, finished in the top ten after a strong debut in the Ilkley Moor Fell Race last week.
Ilkley runners have always done well in the 24 mile Trollers Trot and this time they surpassed themselves taking first prizes in the men's and ladies' sections.
Nick Pearce covered the course in 3hrs and Rachael Gooch did 4 hrs which were both outstanding runs in the cold and icy conditions.
Rob Pawson did 4.37, Dave Ibbotson 4.47 and Howard Allen five hours. Dave and Howard are now well on course with their London Marathon training.
This Sunday members will compete at South Leeds Stadium in a 5K event which is the next club event and it should be fast and furious.
New members are always welcome and they can join training from Ben Rhydding Sports Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.
