TROJANS RES.............3
BASS SOCIAL..............3
For the second week running Burley Trojans Reserves were undone by a late goal, this time costing them valuable league points. With leaders Black Swan winning again Trojans needed a victory to keep the Ripon side in their sights.
On reflection a draw was probably a fair result and Trojans can draw some comfort from the fact that it preserves their unbeaten league record which stretches back to mid September.
The home side got off to a dreadful start conceding a goal within five minutes through some sloppy defending. The equaliser was not long in coming, Iain Gibbons steering ball home from Chris Lockwood's precision free-kick.
Bass were soon back in front as Trojans charitable defending allowed time and space for the visitors striker to net with ease past stand-in 'keeper Martin Stockdale.
The scoring pattern continued with Matt Hawnt levelling from close range following excellent work from midfielder Richard Wood.
Trojans finally went ahead five minutes before the break. Centre-half Matt Steer's long ball caused confusion in the Bass defence and Gareth Goodison nipped in to drive his shot across the 'keeper and into the bottom corner to keep up his recent scoring record.
By comparison the second-half was a much more tame affair with few scoring chances. Hawnt had an opportunity to seal things for Trojans but he was unable to get any power in his shot from Rob Wheeler's cross.
The home side lost James Goodison through injury and his replacement Jamie Davey headed narrowly wide.
In the second minute of added time Trojans lost possession in midfield and following a swift counter attack the ball was swung into the danger zone and headed home by a jubilant Bass forward.
Lockwood collected match point for his consistent performance at left-back, both defensively and in prompting many of Trojans best moves.
