Horsforth have replaced New Farnley in the Thursday Evening Millet Printers competition which starts on Thursday, May 4. New Farnley had only been in the Millet League for one season but their late withdrawal from the season's competition came in time for another club to be invited.

The vacancy has been quickly snapped up by Horsforth Cricket Club who will now take over New Farnley's fixtures. Several other local Bradford and Aire/Wharfe cricket clubs had been showing interest in this popular evening competition but Horsforth chairman, George Lilley, who is helping turn the Aire/Wharfe League Club round on and off the field, was quick to enter the club into a league in which they have had previous successes in the recent past.

Their admission brings the number of clubs back up to eight, giving 14 matches played on a 'home' and 'away' basis for each member club. Farsley CC will host the end of season final.

Horsforth have also recruited ex-player Bruce Rainford as captain of the First XI next season. Rainford has spent several successful seasons at neighbours Adel as both batsmen and bowler and his return to Horsforth is expected to encourage one or two other experienced players to join what is still a relatively young first team.
