WHARFEDALE face their third visit this year to the Thames valley when they visit Newbury seeking a 10th successive victory.

Their opponents have made rapid progress through the league structure and have been in National One since 1997 having stormed out of the old Division Four South with 25 victories from 25 games.

Wharfedale were a little lucky not to concede more points to an impressive set of Newbury backs in the home fixture when their backs got on top in the second half and the threat was largely neutralised.

Nothing less than a win will do now for Wharfedale to keep the pressure mounting on the men from England's second city who lie in second place in the league.

Meanwhile preparations are well advanced for Wharfedale's forthcoming tour to the east coast of the USA at the end of May.

The squad will be based in Washington DC and in total there will be 56 in the party, with 44 players, including the majority of the first team squad (full itinerary from Jim Holmfield).
