Huddersfield Town 1, Walsall 1; Steve Teale reports.
Stick with us - that was Steve Bruce's message to Town supporters after another disappointing display by the Terriers.
Bruce was concerned that fans booed his side after going a goal behind to lowly Walsall.
The manager later even engaged in a heated argument with supporters after substitute Scott Sellars was apparently abused by fans near the dug-out after Town equalised.
Later Bruce appealed for calm, saying: "The booing is a little premature. We are in with a shout of the play-offs.
"If someone said at the beginning of the season that we would be in this position we would have been quite happy.
"There are teams up here with us who have spent millions over a number of years. I've only been here six months.
"We have set ourselves very high standards. We have had some good matches and some excellent performances. This wasn't one, but we are still in with a good chance of the play-offs."
Town had started promisingly and Clyde Wijnhard almost put Town ahead in the sixth minute, but stumbled during a one-on-one with the keeper. He was later thwarted in a similar position by a goal-saving tackle by Adrian Viveash.
Town piled on the pressure without creating many more chances in the first half and wilted in the second when, eventually, Wijnhard was substituted.
Walsall, reliant on breaks, eventually took the lead when Pedro Matias finished superbly after a searching run into the penalty area. Within two minutes Town equalised when Martin Smith scored after good work by Dean Gorre.
Bruce said: "I thought Clyde looked tired. He has played every game for me this season, but this wasn't his day.
"It wasn't a good performance, but we did enough to win. We created five or six good chances - two in the first ten minutes. When you don't take chances you can have problems - and that's what happened.
"At this time of the season you get these types of result. Teams like Walsall are fighting for their lives."
He said the search for new signings would go on. "I have been looking for weeks and weeks, but it hasn't quite happened yet. I will do my utmost to bring in a couple more players, but I won't make signings for the sake of it."
