Aidan Davison is hoping to be Bradford City's lucky charm against relegation for the second time in three years as the Bantams bid to move away from the Premiership drop zone.
The 31-year-old Northern Ireland international has finally completed his move to Valley Parade and may return to the side which faces Coventry this weekend.
City were forced to hand a debut to Neville Southall against Leeds last weekend after the deal to bring Davison from Sheffield United broke down. Injury also ruled out Gary Walsh and Matt Clarke from the derby clash.
But after competing his medical and signing a three-and-a-half-year contract, Davison is now determined to do all he can to keep City in the top flight.
He said: "It is all about staying up - that is what the fans, the chairman, manager and all the players are fully focused on. I am just glad everything is sorted out now."
Davison played a vital role in City winning their last fight against relegation in the 1996-97 season when he produced some superb displays in the final ten games to help the Bantams beat the drop from Division One.
He said: "Maybe I am a lucky charm and I can help us do it again. The final ten games are vital, starting with the trip to Coventry this weekend.
"A lot has changed since I was last here with the stadium now looking fit for the Premier League and further developments in the pipeline.
"I think our home games are especially important. We have Southampton, Derby and Wimbledon at home in March. But we must also scrape some points together away from home."
The deal to bring Davison to Bradford appeared to be dead late last week but after the player contacted City on Monday saying he had had a change of heart, the matter was resolved very quickly.
The goalkeeper said: "I always wanted to come to Bradford but a few contract matters had to be sorted out at the Sheffield United end. For me it was never a major problem and now I just want to concentrate on helping Bradford City stay in the Premiership."
