Bradford moved into second place in National Ladies' English Hockey League Division One with just a single game left.

They took all three points from their away fixture at Wimbledon with a 2-0 win.

Old Loughtonians, in second place at the beginning of the day, lost to leaders Loughborough Students, allowing Bradford to leap-frog them in the table.

Bradford started their match against Wimbledon under pressure with the home team on the attack.

But towards the end of the first half Bradford began to work out the ball more freely and started to open up the Wimbledon defence.

With both sides holding tight the first half seemed headed for stalemate until Bradford scored just before the break.

Bradford were awarded a penalty corner and Joanne Holroyd's strike beat the Wimbledon defence to put them ahead.

Bradford began the second half in much more control, and within the first ten minutes they created a chance from open play which increased their lead.

Central midfielder Holroyd played a through ball to Jill Barker who made an overlapping run down the right into the striking circle. She shot straight through the keeper's legs to put Bradford 2-0 up.

From that point on Bradford never looked like conceding a goal although they went through a patch in the later stages where they were losing possession in their half and putting themselves under pressure.

Wimbledon began to get frustrated with each other and lost their discipline. They received two yellow cards, and were reduced to nine players for a ten-minute spell.

Bradford play their last match of the league season at home to Southampton on Saturday.

Bradford Ladies Under-19 team won the North Club championships to qualify for the national competition.

They beat Ambleside, Newcastle and Welton, and drew with Deeside Ramblers.

A 5-0 semi-final victory against Gateshead gave them a final place against Hightown which ended in a 1-1 draw so the match went to strokes. It was 3-3 after the first round of five each, and went to sudden death. Hightown missed their first and Bradford's Nadine Merabi converted to give Bradford the title.

Bradford Ladies 2nd XI lost 3-1 to Yorkshire County Premiership leaders Colne Valley. They failed to convert possession and goal scoring opportunities.

Netherwood Ladies kept their winning streak going with a 3-0 victory over Doncaster Thirds in the Yorkshire League Division Four.
