Skipton Bulldogs fixture chaos was close to being aggravated at the weekend.

However they worked hard on their Sandylands pitch to get if fit at the weekend in their bid for silverware. The reward was a hard-fought 3-1 over Grassington United in the Craven League Cup quarter-finals.

That was one of the games to go ahead at the weekend, and a clearer picture of the destiny of leagues and cups emerged.

In the quarter finals of the Division One Cup, Skipton Town avenged their league defeat at Carleton last week with a 2-0 win, leaving Carleton battling to avoid relegation. Holders Hellifield were a goal down at half time against Cowling but rallied in the second half to win 4-1.

Barrowford, who normally raise their game for cup encounters, did so again with a 4-0 win over Silsden.

In the Northern Plant Hire Challenge Trophy Oxenhope Recreation had a comfortable 5-1 victory over Skipton LMS.

The semi-final line-ups are:

Premier Division Cup - Oxenhope v Cross Hills; Embsay v Skipton Bulldogs. Division One Cup - Addingham v Hellifield; Clitheroe Utd v Skipton Town.

Premier League leaders Cross Hills had hopes of opening up a seven point lead at the top but these were dashed when they were beaten by third placed Embsay 2-1. Second placed Keighley suffered a shock home defeat against Rimington and must now win all their last five matches to have a chance of the title.

Bottom club Cononley Sports are still without a victory after losing 2-0 at home to Colne Cricket Club.

Division One Leaders Addingham enjoyed a 4-1 home win over Bradley to maintain their one point advantage over Grindleton, who beat St Paul's 4-0. Third placed Clitheroe's match was called off but they have two matches in hand. Sutton and Intake, both looking for points, met at Sutton and honours at 1-1, a result which leaves Intake still in the drop zone.

The leaders of Division Two met at Barnoldswick United, where the leaders Bronte Wanderers scrambled a 2-1 victory to leave them eight points clear at the top.

Embsay Reserves are second on goal difference after a 6-1 home win over Grindleton while Lothersdale kept up the pressure with a 3-1 win over Cowling Reserves.

Silsden Athletic and Horton shared the points in a 1-1 draw and Skipton LMS Reserves won their derby with Skipton Bulldogs 1-0.

Division Three is becoming very interesting. Long time leaders Ilkley Juniors were replaced by Bronte Reserves on goal difference when Bronte beat Carleton's reserves 4-0 as Ilkley were drawing 2-2 at home to Settle United.

Bradley Reserves dented Waddington's chances while Earby continue to climb the table after a 1-0 defeat of Skipton Town put them into third place.

With the Craven FA and Keighley FA staging Cup semi-finals this week, the referee situation in the league will be drastic and it is hoped that vital promotion matches will be staffed but many games will have to go without a neutral official - unless there are referees out there who would like a game.
